1. Registration for foreigners:
Foreigners are required to o apply for the registration by completing a Registration Form (NHIF 2) and submitting the same to the Fund for issuance of a card. They will also be required to present original and attached copies of passport, alien certificate or a work permit. If the said foreigner has dependents, he will be required to attach documents such as birth certificates, spouse’s passport or alien certificate and their current passport size photos.
2. Registration for foreign students:
Students are covered under the self employed category. The student should complete a Registration Form (NHIF 2), present original and attach copies of passport, passport size photo and the required amount and submit the same duly completed to the Fund for issuance of a card
3. The procedure for registering a new member is:
For the employed persons, the employer is required to apply for the employee's registration upon employment by completing Registration Form (NHIF 2) and submitting the same to the Fund for issuance of a card.
Self-employed persons should complete Registration Form (NHIF 2) and submit the same duly completed to the Fund for issuance of a card.
NB. The above categories of contributors are subject to the same terms and conditions on benefits, premiums and penalties.
Monthly payments to take effect on 1st of April 2015:
If you earn between Sh 8,000 and Sh 11,999 you will contribute Sh 400
If you earn between Sh 12,000 and Sh 14,999 you will contribute Sh 500.
If you earn between Sh 15,000 and Sh 19,999 you will contribute Sh 600
If you earn between Sh 20,000 and Sh 24,999 you will contribute Sh 750
If you earn between Sh 60,000 and Sh 90,000 you will contribute Sh 1,300-1,600
If you earn over Sh 100,000 you will contribute Sh 1,700
